FB 13: Participation in the EMBO Meeting “Lipid Droplets: Cell-Biological Control of Metabolism”, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Spain
Applicant: Arian Seyed Sadri
Faculty, specialisation: FB 13, PhD Neuro- and Behavioral Biology
Thanks to the generous support of the Santander Mobility Fund, I had the opportunity to attend the EMBO Meeting “Lipid Droplets: Cell-Biological Control of Metabolism” in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Spain. At the conference, I presented my doctoral research as a flash talk and a poster presentation.
In my PhD project, I investigate how lipid metabolism in glial cells contributes to brain development, with a particular focus on the function of lipid droplets. Since this topic represents a new research direction in our laboratory, participation in this highly specialized meeting was of particular importance to me.
The meeting brought together leading experts from around the world who study lipid droplets from complementary biological perspectives. It was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, receive feedback, and connect with many inspiring researchers. Presenting my results in this focused setting helped me to position my research within the field and inspired future experiments.
In accordance with the proposed format of science communication, I shared a visual report of my conference experience both within my department and soon on my institute’s communication platform. This allowed me to share the insights I gained with a broader audience and to highlight the valuable support provided by the Santander Mobility Fund.
Overall, participation in this EMBO Meeting has been a very enriching experience, highly beneficial for the progress of my PhD project and for my development as an internationally connected early-career researcher.
